The Flagship Parks of Riverhead
Several larger parks in Riverhead offer tons of space for activities and sports. In fact, Stotzky Memorial Park features baseball and softball fields, a dog park, two soccer fields, and recently updated tennis courts. Moreover, picnic tables provide space for a lovely lunch out in the open.
But perhaps you’re looking for a bike path or a bocce ball court. And if that’s the case, you’ll want to head to the newest flagship park, Veterans Memorial Park. At a whopping 62 acres, this enormous park even has pickleball courts.
Once known as Bayberry Park, Police Officers Memorial Park in Wading River has tons of great stuff for the whole family. Multi-use fields mean you can organize a flag football game or an impromptu soccer match. Then head over to the picnic area and fire up one of the grills for a delicious summer afternoon meal.

Eight neighborhood parks provide play structures, seating areas, and gorgeous views for a little outdoor therapy. As a result, you won’t have to go far in Riverhead to find one of these relaxation destinations. The eight smaller parks in Riverhead are:

- Wading River Duck Ponds
- Horton Avenue Park
- Nadel Drive Park
- Two Bears Park
- Millbrook Gables Park
- Unity Drive Park
- Miamogue Point Park
These parks feature play structures, basketball half-courts, picnic areas, and walking paths. Each park is unique, with its lovely view and different amenities.
Hidden Gems and Tiny Spots
Riverhead is studded with mini-parks, memorials, and unique perspectives of Riverhead. For example, at Weeping Willow Park, you can hop into a canoe or kayak. Have your lunch right on the river. And Grumman Memorial Park is a favorite for kids and the young at heart. You’ll find two real fighter jets—an A6E Intruder and an F-14 A Tomcat. Next, don’t forget about the Community Garden on the Peconic River. Near Main Street, you can see what’s growing or even get involved yourself with a plot. Finally, Riverhead offers a World Trade Center Memorial. Visitors can sit in quiet reflection.
